“Flamboyan II” is the name of this group of sixteen members, located in a small village called Kroya. This group has been running since 2008, and currently has had eight loan cycles.

There are various types of businesses in this group, especially traditional foods such as egg rolls, sausage solo, wet pastel, donuts, nagasari, kueku, lemper, Mendut, semar mendem, beans, onions, and risoles. There is also a free-range chicken business. Mutual trust and mutual cooperation among members are very closely intertwined. They always meet every month and take turns at each member’s house. With this loan, they plan to buy the means of production to better increase their return and buy cake molds which are more sophisticated for cake production.

Nurul is the leader of this group and is remarkable because she can provide encouragement to the members. She has a business of refilling mineral water, called "Hijau Daun". The Kiva loans benefit her, as Nurul is a widow with two children. Her husband died a few years ago. Nurul hopes this loan can help to add a gallon of mineral water to her production each day.

The loan can also help the welfare of each member of the group, Flamboyan II, and their families.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
