Nighat is a very responsible woman. By stitching clothes, she helps her husband meet the family's needs and her children's educational expenses. She has been operating her business very efficiently and honestly for the past 11 years, and her clients always appreciate her work.

Nighat, as a member of 3-person lending group, has requested a loan from Kiva’s partner BRAC Pakistan. With the loan amount, she will be purchasing a new sewing machine so that she can work more efficiently in the future and her production can increase. As she is living in a rented house with her family, she dreams of building her own house. She also desires to expand her business and to provide quality education to her children. With the profit amount she will pay her house rent.

Nighat and her family are very much thankful to both BRAC Pakistan and Kiva for their support.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
