Ruby is a 40-year-old married woman who lives in Cagay-anon, Sinacaban, Misamis Occidental. For four years, she has owned and operated a motor transport service in her local community, earning 5,000 PHP (Philippines pesos) a month for a living.
In 2011, she joined GDMPC micro credit and she gained access to micro-finance services. She is now requesting a loan of 8,000 PHP to purchase motor accessories and pay for maintenance. She plans to improve the service that she offers to add customers who could give more income to her business.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
