AFEPEB is a group of nine persons whose members live together. The group's representative, Albertine, is the one in the photo with her hand raised. She is 45 years old and no longer lives with her husband. Albertine did not go to school. She has two children, of whom one is in school. Both are in her care. She lives alone with her children.

To meet the needs of the family, Albertine has been selling fabrics door to door for eight years. She gets her supplies from a market in Benin.

With the goal of bolstering her business and satisfying the demands of her customers, Albertine joined with the other member of the group AFEPEB to request a second loan from ALIDé. The previous loan was indeed paid back.

AFEPEB est un groupe de neuf personnes, dont les membres sont des cohabitantes. La représentante du groupe, nommée Albertine est celle qui a la main levée sur la photo. Albertine âgée de 45 ans, ne vit plus avec son mari. Albertine n'a pas fréquenté l'école. Albertine a deux enfants, dont un scolarisé et tous à sa charge. Albertine vit seule avec ses enfants. Pour subvenir aux besoins de sa famille, Albertine vend des tissus de façon ambulante depuis huit ans. Albertine s'approvisionne dans un marché du Bénin. Dans le but de renforcer son activité et de satisfaire la demande de sa clientèle, Albertine s’associe avec les autres membres du groupe AFEPEB pour solliciter un deuxième crédit auprès de ALIDé. Le prêt antérieur a été bien remboursé.

About Alidé

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients.
