Rodolfo

He hasn't received any loans from state banks or cooperatives in the past but FUDECOSUR have offered him this loan with better terms and a much lower interest rate. Rodolfo would like to provide his children with the education they need so that, in the future, they are educated and able to face life more easily than their father.

Rodolfo, tiene la edad de 47 años, es casado, y tiene 2 hijos que son su mayor prioridad. El quiere comprar abono e insumos para asistir cafetal que es de su propiedad. Tiene varios años que se dedica a su finca y quiere crecer y también desea que su finca sea muy productiva. Es el primer préstamo que ha recibido de FUDECOSUR. No ha realizado otros préstamos en bancos estatales o Cooperativas, pero FUDECOSUR le brindó el préstamo con mayores facilidades y la tasa de interés es mucho más baja. El también tiene el deseo de brindarle a sus hijos la educación necesaria para que sean en el futuro personas preparadas y puedan enfrentar de manera más fácil la vida.

FUDECOSUR works in one of the poorest regions of Costa Rica, where microfinance institutions (MFIs) are scarce or have a hard time keeping up with demand for small loans. By providing mostly agricultural loans, FUDECOSUR reaches rural borrowers that many MFIs consider to be too risky. However, this has also made it more difficult for the organization to find stable sources of capital to lend.
