Mrs. Yun K., 60, and her husband, Mr. Poun Tum, 61, who live on an island in the Mekong River about fifteen kilometers from Phnom Penh, were married in 1968 and have six children: five sons and one daughter. Two of her children are married and live outside the family home. Two other sons are security guards in Phnom Penh.



Since 1980, Mrs. Yun has been a silk weaver, a skill she learned from her neighbor. She sells her finished products to the middleman in the village, who then takes them to sell in Phnom Penh. Mr. Poun has been a farm guard for eight years.



Yun is requesting a loan of US$ 1000 to purchase a motorcycle for her sons to drive to work in Phnom Penh.
