Afif is a 55-year-old man. He’s married and living in Lebanon with his wife and four children; two are working, while the others are still studying. Despite his tough work, Afif is obliged to work continually as he is responsible for covering his family's expenses. He has been working in the construction field since 1993. He’s specialized in floor coverings and has gained a fair number of clients asking for his services. Regardless of being satisfied with what he has attained so far, he suffers from a bad financial situation; that’s the reason why he’s asking today for a loan from Kiva partner Vitas s.a.l. to improve his business by purchasing new tools, as he plans to keep on offering the best quality of work ever. In the near future, Afif plans to take added loans to open his own pavers shop. This is how he works really hard to achieve his goals.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
