Shehnaz is the responsible mother of three children. Her husband makes his living as a daily worker whose income is not sufficient to meet the needs of the family members. She faced many problems in her early married life - there were often days when her children slept without having any food. But now her contribution to the family income is playing a vital role in fulfilling the needs of the family.
To cope with increasing demand during the summer season, Shehnaz has requested a loan from Kiva's partner BRAC Pakistan to purchase a variety of cloth in different colors. She is a member of a two-person group. She hopes to get an increase in her net income and wishes to spend part of her profits on the improvement of her house. She is very thankful to Kiva and BRAC Pakistan.

This is a Group Loan
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
