Edgie May of Panta-on, Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental is a married woman with two children. To make a living, she manages her owned farm land planting and harvesting bananas for sale. She earned 3,000 Philippine Pesos (PHP) a month from farming for five years.
She is borrowing 8,000 PHP from GDMPC micro credit to purchase fertilizer such as manure. In the future, she plans to use her generated revenue for their house improvement for a better shelter of her family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
