Amparo is 52 and the single mother of two children. One is over 18 and independent and the other, whom Amparo supports steadfastly, is still at university. Amparo completed high school and could not continue studying after that.
She looks after her children and her small grocery store, which she supports herself with, as it is her only source of income.
The loan she is applying for is to invest in selling basic products to her customers who are neighbours from the area.
