Rafael Carmelo
Rafael is a 55 year old man. He is single, lives in the city of Camaná, and is a very friendly, hardworking, and enthusiastic person who puts forth all of his efforts to get ahead. Unfortunately he had to go to work at an early age to help his parents, due to lack of financial resources. He was not able to study for a professional career, but he likes to visit his family and at times cook a delicious Chupe de Camarones to share with his family.

On his own initiative and with great dedication, Rafael works as a master construction worker and does various jobs such as working at local homes and other construction projects. He works about 10 hours a day and believes that things are going well for him because of the friendly treatment he gives to others.

Rafael is very grateful to the Kiva lenders and thanks to their help he has been able to make improvements to his home and he wants to put the finishings on it, paint the walls, and improve the roof. In this way Rafael will have better security and wellbeing.

Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
