Kou's story

Kou is 49 years old, and lives in Sanniquille, the capital city of Nimba County, which is rich in natural resources, has living conditions much better than the capital city of Liberia, and is the second most populous county in Liberia. Kou did not go to school, and she has lived all her life in Sanniqulle. Traditionally, she is married, and her husband is a farmer. They have four children together between the ages of 2 to 27. Kou said only one of her children is in school, and they all live in the same house which was built by the children's father.
With a little money from her husband, Kou was able to establish her tabletop business ten years ago, where she sells palm oil, salt, pepper etc. Kou spends 8 hours at her business per day, from Monday to Saturday. One problem she faces is a small income. Kou is requesting a loan to purchase more inventory for her business. Her plan is to one day build a modern house.
