Mishi aged 40 years, is a married woman and lives with her husband Denis at their own house that neither has electricity nor piped water. Her greatest monthly expenses are food and school fees for the children.
Mishi has operated a charcoal selling business for the past ten years. She sells from home to her neighbours and passersby. She mentioned stiff competition and transportation to be her major challenge in the business.
With the Kshs 50,000 she wants to purchase 24 sacks of charcoal for sale. She dreams of expanding her business to earn more income in the future.

This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
