Sally is 40 years old, a widow, and has three children; two are school age and one an infant age. They are residing at Sabang, Larena, Siquijor.
She has been engaged in her business for 15 years and earns 6,000 PHP (Philippines pesos) a month to cover her living expenses. Now, she is requesting a loan amounting to 50,000 PHP to purchase more stock for her general store, such as shampoo, toothpaste, soap and canned goods.
In the future, she hopes to expand her business with the help of this institution.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
