John is a farmer involved in the growing of coffee and bananas plus the rearing of animals. He has been into agriculture since 2007 after realising that it was the only source of income to look after the family. John is married with six children of 22, 18, 16, 14, 12 and 8 years respectively. Four of these children attend school, and he pays their school fees using the money from agriculture.

John wants a loan of 2,000,000 shillings to buy mulches for covering his coffee and banana plantation during this rainy season so that he is not affected when the dry season starts. His dream is to buy a machine to add value to his coffee beans, other than selling them in their raw form, so that he is able to realize more returns.

John is challenged by the price fluctuations on the market, seasonality of the agricultural production, as well the limited capital to invest in better agricultural equipment and paying the workers.
