Ny, 46 years old and a citizen of Sampov Meas district of Pursat province, is married and blessed with six children. Currently, two of her kids are still in school while the remaining are paid workers in Thailand. To strive for a living, she manages two hectares of rice farming while her husband works at a local non- profit organization in the area. She is able to earn about 38,000 KHR from the current business that she has been with for 13 years.
This is the third micro-loan for Ny with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). After the successful past loans which she has fully paid back, she feels confident that she can support her business on time. For this cycle, she is seeking 4,000,000 KHR in order to buy two cows to work her farmland. She hopes that she can earn more income to sustain her lifestyle in a good manner.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
