Khalil is a 40-year-old married man from Lebanon. He is living with his wife and two children. In 2005, and in order to supplement the family’s income, he decided to start his own farming business. He cultivates all kinds of fruits and vegetables. He takes good care of his land in order to obtain good quality products and therefore satisfy his clients. Today, he is asking to for a loan from Kiva partner Vitas s.a.l to purchase required agricultural tools and supplies, seeds and fertilizers. He states that the loan will certainly help him increase his business productivity by a fair percentage which will produce higher profits. In the future, he plans to open his own shop where he can sell his harvest and gain added profits.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
