Digna of Gango, Ozamiz City is a 39 year-old woman who is married and has seven children. To earn a living, she owns and manages a tricycle, extending transportation services in the local community. She has been in this business for five years with an income of 4,000Php a month. That cannot support all their basic needs. In 2009, she became a member of GDMPC micro credit to gain access to micro finance. Currently, she is borrowing 9,500 from the cooperative to repair the existing tricycle for better services. She dreams of having another tricycle to have multiple earnings in the future.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
