Mariam
Born in July 1985 in Tiele, MARIAM lives with her two children and husband in a monogamous family in Commune Rurale de Tiele, in Kati prefecture (Région de KOULIKORO). MARIAM did not have the chance to go to school. Early on, she became interested in revenue-generating work, notably in the buying and selling of incense and damask fabrics.

MARIAM is on her first loan with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso. It will be used to purchase a significant quantity of incense and 20 lengths of damask from wholesalers. Accepting cash or credit, she makes her sales retail at her house and at the Tiele market. Her customer base is composed of men and women.

MARIAM hopes to make a monthly profit of 75,000 francs CFA that will be used to help out her husband in meeting the needs of the family, to repay the loan, and to reinvest in the business.
