John Lwanga
John, age 68, is married with three children. He is a third time borrower with Ugafode and is impressed by the services offered to him. With the previous loans, John was in a position to increase the size of his pig sty and also buy pigs which have grown and have started fetching him some money through sales of pigs. This has enabled him to get money to pay tuition for his son at the university as well as more for his other dependents.

He hopes to grow the number of his pigs up to 2,000, which will in turn increase his income base, since there is a high demand for the pigs. He is a hardworking old man. In the photo is John with the Ugafode staff member (right to left) in front of the pig sty.

More information about this loan

This loan is part of UGAFODE's program for clients who live in isolated rural areas with limited access to financial services. Uniquely, UGAFODE focuses its efforts on agricultural areas in Uganda that are over 50 km from their branches, providing loans to both groups and individual borrowers. The organization believes that the risk of offering services to remote clients is outweighed by the benefits to customers and their often underserved communities.
