Joyce is married and has four children, who are now adults. She has practiced mixed farming for 30 years. She produces milk, bananas, maize and beans and sells them in the local market. She has requested a loan of KES 65,000 from Juhudi Kilimo to buy irrigation equipment. This will enable her to water her crops with ease. The major challenges she faces are drought, pests and diseases. In five years’ time, she plans to shift her farming and start specializing in dairy farming. Joyce says that Juhudi Kilimo is the best for her.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
