Adelia is a 48-year-old married mother of nine children living in San Juan, Pana-on, Misamis Occidental. She is planting and harvesting vegetables and bananas from her garden and earning 3,500 PHP for a living. This year, she has joined GDMPC to gain access to micro finance and is now requesting a loan of 7,000 PHP to purchase seedlings and fertilizer. She plans to cultivate the entire farm to double their income so they can send their children to school.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
