A loan of $600 helped to buy sewing supplies.

Ivania Del Socorro's story

Ivania’s a 42-year-old, humble dressmaker living in the city of Managua; she has two children who are 18 and 23 years of age. She learned this occupation 8 years ago when her cousin taught her this activity. When she separated from her children’s father she focused on finding a way to move her family forward on her own and sewing has helped her to be more independent and to fend for herself. She has a large clientele and she also heads out to sell in the markets.

She needs financing to buy fabric, thread, elastic, lace and buttons. This will make it possible for her to have raw materials to fill her orders. One of her greatest hopes is to own industrial sewing machines that are in good condition and to equip a sewing workshop to provide jobs for women from her neighborhood.
