Fernando is 51 years old and lives with his six children, who are 28, 25, 22, 17, 13 and 10 respectively. He has worked in agriculture for 40 years, a trade he learnt from his father. He was in school until the third grade, since when he has worked in the fields. To buy supplies he has to travel 20km to do his shopping.
Fernando has asked Fundacion Campo for a loan to buy 8 sacks of manure and 12 sacks of fertiliser, and to pay rent on 14,000 square metres of land for growing corn. This means will have a good harvest which will allow him to buy what his family needs and to improve their current situation. Fernando's dream is to be able to build a house out of bricks that is large enough for his children to have more privacy.
