Marleni
Marleni, 36, is a shy woman. She lives in the house she bought one year ago along with her young children.

Her main business activity is livestock. She has a stable half an hour away from her house, where she lets her animals rest in expansive green areas. She has been raising sheep, pigs, cows, and bulls for five years. She feeds and cares for them painstakingly because her animal sales depend on their good care. Every three months, she sells them to butchers who come to her home or at a market in the city closest to her home. "It all depends on the sale price. If the butchers offer a better price, I'll sell them. If not, I will have to bring them to the market," she says. She also takes advantage of the opportunity to work on her farmland, where she plants corn, potatoes, and grains.

This is her second Kiva loan. She is grateful for the financial support she has received, because it allows her to continue with her goals. Marleni will invest these 3,000 Peruvian soles in the purchase of two bulls to fatten and seeds for her farmland.
