Glenn is a 30 year-old married man who has three children and lives in Lumbayao, Aloran, Misamis Occidental. To support his family, he harvests his coconut and sells copra and other products from his coconut land earning 7,500.00 a month.
Last year, he joined Kiva partner GDMPC in order to gain access to financial services and recently requested the amount of 40,000.00 PHP in order to purchase additional coconut growing land nearby. In the near future, Glenn wants to have another coco land for them to have doubled their income in order to be able to send their children to school and finish studies.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
