Arturo is a 41-year-old married man with two children living in Proper Langcangan, Oroquieta City. He owns and operates an insurance company in the local community. Recently he joined GDMPC to gain access to microfinance and now is requesting a loan of 15,000 Philippine pesos (PHP) to purchase a set of computers for his insurance company. He dreams of expanding his business to another locality.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
