Kou is 32 years old and lives at Paynesville North, which has the larger local market in Montsorrade. She lives together with her fiance, who is currently unemployed. They have five children from 7 to 17 years of age who are in school and live at home.
Kou describes herself as a hardworking person. For the past six years, she has been running a market where she sells rice, pepper, vita (a juice drink), oil, etc. She likes her business because of the ways her customers respond to it. She started this business with money given to her by her oldest brother. She gets her goods to the market by means of shared taxi.
Kou is requesting a loan to purchase more rice, pepper, vita (a juice drink), oil, etc for her business. In future, she plans to buy a piece of land and build a house. She would like to thank the lenders who support BRAC Liberia to enable small business people to increase their business volume.
