Ellen is a 32-year-old married woman with three children. She owns and operates a fishing business, and sells fish in the local community. She's been in this business for four years, earning 3,000 PHP a month for a living.
Ellen joined GDMPC in 2011 to gain access to micro finance. She is now requesting 4,000 PHP to purchase new fishing net. In the future, she plans to buy another fishing boat.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
