Edna is 42 years old, married, and the mother of four children. She lives in Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur where she has earned a living for the last five years by selling grocery items in the local community. She makes 8,000 PHP a month and is applying for a loan for 10,000 PHP to purchase additional products like canned goods, noodles, sugar, and coffee. She joined GDMPC in 2012 as a way to improve her family's living conditions.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
