Tony is a 34-year-old widower with three children living in Misamis Occidental, Philippines. He owns and manages his farm, planting different kinds of plants such as banana, fruit trees and root crops. He's been in this business for 10 years and earns 4,000 PHP (Philippines pesos) a month for a living.
He now requests a loan of 10,000 PHP from GDMPC to purchase additional seeds, seedlings and young crops to raise. In 2012, he joined GDMPC to have access to microfinance. In the future, he dreams to improve his farm.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
