Balvina
Balvina, 58, is an enterprising woman. She is a widow, as her husband died nine years ago. She lives with her mother. She has a daughter who is independent, working and studying. Balvina finished secondary school and graduated as a chartered public accountant.

She currently works in commerce, selling basic grains and vegetables in a small grocery store which she has owned for more than 15 years. Her only support in her business is her mother, who helps her with the sale of products such as rice, beans, dairy products, and others. Her clients are her neighbors, family members, and friends from the area, who come to the store daily to buy products.

She is currently asking for help to buy a solar panel, which she has wanted for a long time. There is no electricity where she lives and she believes that she will be able to take advantage of selling other products at night, which will give her a little more income.

Her goal with the purchase of this product is to improve her home by producing electricity, as well as to have a better income and invest in her business to better serve her clients.

These loans are designed for women who live in communities that do not have electricity, and where the government does not plan to install electricity for at least five years. This financing enables them to purchase solar panels ranging from 36 to 75 watts. COMIXMUL has partnered with an established solar company in Honduras to install the panels and provide maintenance when required. The panels themselves are guaranteed for 25 years. Historically, COMIXMUL has had significant demand for this product that it has been unable to meet. Thanks to Kiva, COMIXMUL will be able to expand access to solar technology to more borrowers.
