Sarah lives in Kampala, Uganda. She is married with two children, and both of them attend school. She is looking after another family member (her brother's child).
She has been selling charcoal from home, both wholesale and retail, for 10 years, working six days a week. She also earns additional income from her rental houses.
She has requested a loan of 2,500,000 Ugandan shillings from MCDT- SACCO to enable her to stock a full lorry of charcoal for sale. Her challenges include transportation and seasonality. Her dream is to buy her own truck to help in the transportation of the charcoal from the villages, and also, to sell on a wholesale basis only.
She joined MCDT because of the good customer care exhibited during the training. She stays in her husband's house with access to both electricity and piped water. Her major monthly expenses include school fees.
