Kalo group is made up of four women. Two are married, one is widowed and the other is divorced. On average, they are 36 years old and have three children. They lived in traditional extended families in the Niebala neighbourhood of Bougouni.

The members of the group know each other through being neighbours, friends and business associates. In the interest of increasing their capital and improving their businesses, they are members of the Soro Yiriwaso microfinance institution. This is their first loan.

These women trade various food products such as vegetables, like Bintou, who is shown sitting down in the photo. With her loan, Bintou is going to buy five baskets of cucumbers from gardeners in neighbouring villages. She sells to individuals at the market and from home, both for cash and on credit. The majority of her customers are women.

Bintou expects to make an average of 40,000 CFA francs per month, which will be re-invested in the business and used to repay the loan.

Le groupe KALO est constitué de 2 femmes mariées ,1 veuve et 1 divorcée ayant une moyenne d’âge de 36 ans et 3 enfants. Elles vivent dans des familles traditionnelles élargies dans le quartier NIEBALA de la ville de Bougouni.
Elles se sont connues à travers des liens de voisinage, d’amitié et de commerce. Pour renforcer leur capacité financière afin de mieux faire leur commerce, elles adhérent à l’institution de microfinance Soro Yiriwaso avec laquelle elles sont à leur premier prêt. Ce groupe de femmes fait le commerce de divers produits de consommation tels les légumes à l’image de BINTOU, qui est la femme assise dans la photo. Elle compte acheter avec son prêt, 5 paniers de concombre avec les jardiniers des villages voisins. Elle effectue ses ventes au marché et à domicile, en détail au comptant et à crédit à une clientèle composée d’hommes et de femmes.
Elle envisage réaliser un bénéfice mensuel moyen de 40.000FCFA qui sera investi dans les activités et rembourser le prêt.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.
