Abdoulaye is a client of one of the branches of the U-IMCEC, and he has already repaid three previous loans. He is requesting a new loan, in the amount of 300,000 CFA francs to repair the slab floor of his house, so that he doesn't have to face any problems during the rainy season, which is fast approaching. Thanks to his loan, he will be able to buy some cement, sand, bricks, wooden beams, and to pay the masons who will work on this project.
Abdoulaye wants to repair his house to protect his family from the ravages of the rainy season, thereby improving their living environment.
In the future, he would like to finish building an apartment, inside his house, in order to rent it.

UIMCEC is a government-regulated microfinance institution whose mission is to improve the revenue and well-being of families through access to financial services, allowing principally women and young adult micro-entrepreneurs living in rural and semi-rural areas to develop their revenue-generating businesses and supporting them in becoming financially self-sufficient.
About Housing Loans
Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
