Living in the Kandal Stoeung district of Kandal province, Thach is 51 years old and married. She has five children, one of whom is still in school and under her dependence. To cover the daily cost of living for her big household, she grows rice while her husband works at a construction site for extra income. This is the first loan for Thach with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). She is seeking 2,500,000 KHR in order to buy 3 sacks of potash, rice seed, and water convolvulus seed to grow for extra income. She hopes that she can gain triple yield from her both cash crops and make a good profit.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
