Somean, 40, is a citizen from the Kandal Stoeng district of Kandal province. To strive for a living, she tailors clothes as the main source of income. She has been involved in the current business for five years. This is not the first loan for Somean with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). She has completely repaid her past loan wisely to upgrade her living conditions, making them better than before. For this cycle, she is seeking 2,400,000 KHR in order to buy a plot of farmland. She hopes this purchase will help her to own a farm for growing rice to earn extra income. She hopes that she can gain a high yield from the business.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
