Jane lives in Kampala, Uganda. She is single with one child who attends school. She is also looking after two sisters.
Jane has been operating a beauty salon for five years, working seven days a week. She does not have any other source of income.
She has requested a loan of UShs 1,000,000 from Kiva partner MCDT- SACCO in order to be able to purchase hair shampoo, hair oils, human hair, cream relaxers, hair beads and towels. Her challenges include seasonality and unstable power supply. Her dream is to own a big beauty salon and a gymnasium. She joined MCDT because of their interest in low income earning women. She stays in a rented house with access to both electricity and piped water. Her major monthly expenses include school fees and rent.
