Chab is 46 years old and the married mother of five children. For her family’s sake, she grows mangoes and plants beans as a primary source of income. She has been engaged in the current business for 26 years. This is not the first loan for Chab with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). She has fully repaid back her past loan with success and it has enabled her to support her business. For this new cycle, she is applying for a new loan in order to buy potash, insecticide, and seeds for farmland. She hopes to earn more income so that she can improve her lifestyle gradually.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
