Sokkhoeun is the mother of three and lives with her husband and children in her own house located in the Kandal province. Together with her husband, she makes a living by planting beans in their farmland of one hectare. They've been in this business for almost twenty years.
This is Sokkhoeun's first loan with VisionFund. She requested the loan because of the lack of working capital to continue with her agricultural business. She will use the money from VisionFund to buy pesticides and fertilizers for her plantation, and gasoline for her water pump. She hopes to earn more money from these crops so she can expand her business and keep her children in school.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
