Jose
José, 49, is married and has a son who he helps with his studies. For 15 years he has lived in the tropics but for ten of those he has been involved in agriculture. He is cultivating two acres of fan palms for export and two acres of yucca plant for local sale. José cultivates part of his older son's land and now has the opportunity to buy land so he can expand his crop production.

He had saved enough money for the downpayment of the land but now he needs the rest to pay off the debt and receive the title to the land. He says this new land will help him increase his income so he can give his son, who is about to enter the university in a different city next year, a better education.
