Asha is a married woman and a mother of six children, all of whom attend school. She owns a house that has neither electricity nor piped water. Her greatest monthly expense is school fees for her children.
Asha has operated a coconut vending business for the past thirteen years, selling at the market to her neighbors and passersby. She faces a major challenge of seasonality in her business. Asha dreams of expanding to a wholesale shop in the future.
With the Kshs 20,000 she wants to purchase sacks of coconuts for resale. She decided to join Yehu to access loans to boost her business.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
