Beatrice is a married woman, 23 years old; she has one kid, who attends school. She owns a house that has electricity and piped water. Her greatest monthly expenses are for food and medical bills. Beatrice operates a fruit- and vegetable-selling stall at the market, selling to town residents and neighbors. She faces a challenge of high cost of transportation to her place of business. With the KES 50,000 loan, she wants to buy sacks of fruits and oranges, and bananas and green vegetables, for resale. She dreams of expanding and establishing a retail shop in the future.
