Norm is originally from a rural village of the Kampong Cham province’s Prey Chhor district. She is a 40-year-old mother of four children, one of whom is in school. To support her family, Norm and her husband have been farming rice for sixteen years and supplement their income by working for others. Together, they can earn about 16,000 KHR per day and can save about 10,000 KHR each day for their future needs.
Norm has been with VisionFund for one cycle and has fully repaid the loan. She has used it to better support her living. Now she is applying for another loan of 2,400,000 KHR to buy pesticides, fertilizer, and seeds for her farmland. She hopes to make more income from her paddy business so as to improve her family’s living condition.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
