Janalyn is a 25-year-old married woman living in Calamba Misamis Occidental, Philippines. Janalyn owns and manages a transportation service to earn a living, and she's been operating the business for ten years. Each month, she earns 6,000 PHP doing this type of service. She requested a loan of 15,000 PHP to purchase spare parts for better services. In 2010, she joined GDMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her business and living situation. In the future, Janalyn wants to make improvements to her house and improve the general living conditions of her family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
