Zulema is single and has no children. She lives at her parents’ house where it has a good atmosphere. The house is made of adobe and has cement floors, a bedroom, and a kitchen. Her home is located in the District of Senkata of the city of El Alto. Zulema is studying at the university for a degree in biochemistry and pharmacology.

She currently works at a pharmacy at a health center in the city of La Paz. Zulema works every day of the week and also contributes to the payment for services, food, and clothing. The loan she is requesting will be used for buying and selling medicines that are not stocked in the health center pharmacy. Zulema will be able to help the people who need these medicines.

Zulema’s dream is to have operating capital so that she can have enough medicines for the people who need them the most. She can then feel better about her work. This is the first time she has requested a loan from IMPRO and Kiva.

Additional Information

IMPRO is a small non-profit organization that has been offering micro credit to the working poor in the Bolivian cities of La Paz and El Alto since 1995. IMPRO’s goal is to fight poverty by offering loans to small business owners who cannot access credit through the regular banking system due to a lack of guarantees or collateral.

To ensure that everyone has access to credit, IMPRO maintains a low interest rate by minimizing operational costs. IMPRO’s partnership with Kiva, which began in 2007, has allowed IMPRO to expand its services while maintaining these low interest rates.
