Jesca is a 40-year-old resident of Mutundwe and a divorced mother of four children. She, therefore, has a very big responsibility of taking care of her children by providing them with education, shelter, clothing and medical care.

She operates a small retail shop that she started with the purpose of meeting her daily needs like taking care of her children. She has been in this business for 10 years and has a dream of setting up a wholesale shop to increase her income and productivity in the near future. Jesca's major challenge is lack of enough capital to purchase more stock. She, therefore, needs a loan for buying more commodities for the shop. Jesca's neighbors commented that she’s a hardworking and dedicated woman.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
