Hen, 44, lives in a rural village of Battambang province’s Bovel district, in Cambodia. He is married and has eight children, five of whom are still attending school. For the last 13 years, he has been growing corn and cassava, earning about 30,000 KHR per day to meet the family’s needs.
Hen has been a member of Kiva partner VisionFund for three cycles already and he completely repaid the previous loan, which he used wisely and successfully to improve his family’s livelihood. Now requesting another loan with VisionFund of KHR 4,000,000, he wants to use this loan to buy pesticides, fertilizers and seeds for his farmland. He hopes to get more crops from his corn as well as his cassava growing so as to sell it for a good price to better his family’s condition and keep his children in school.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
