Chan, 58, is married and lives with his family in a rural area located in the Bovel district of Battambang province. He is the father of three kids. He earns a living by growing cassava, as he has been doing for 13 years. Altogether, he can earn about KHR 47,000 per day from his current business, and he is able to save about KHR 20,000 each day for the future. This is Chan’s first loan from VisionFund. He is applying for a loan of KHR 4,000,000 to buy fertilizer, pesticides and seeds for his cassava. This loan will enable him to extend his farmland and increase his rice-farming, to improve his family’s living conditions.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
