Yen, 61, is a Cambodian citizen from a rural village located in the Kampong Cham Province’s Tbaung Khmum District. She is widowed with three children.
For the last 30 years, Yen has been planting cassava to support her family. With her current business, she can earn about 26,000 KHR per day and can save about 10,000 KHR per day for future needs.
Yen is requesting a loan of 4,000,000 KHR to buy fertilizer and pesticides for her cassava plots. She hopes that her rice will grow plentifully so she can sell it for a good price and improve her standard of living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
